History

Cortland Air Company and Holding Corporation was founded by Mike & Marie Hillman in October 2003 and was intended to own an aircraft for the use of Hillman family and maybe a couple of partners. The aircraft became so popular that there are now 5 additional partners in the plane and more coming.

As a method of creating revenue, and with additional capitol from both the Stroney and Hillman family, the aircraft was upgraded to Part 135 compliance and was held for charter under the Ultimate Jet Charter certificate. The owners began flying their aircraft while be paid by charter customers to fly. The only thing better than “Flying” is "Flying for Free!”

We realized that this type of operation is one that every pilot should have access to. It was clear, a quality, professional flight school catering both to local private pilots and career bound students was in demand.

Armed with our new goal of, "we will operate a flight school that creates friends for life, and aviation careers to pay for it!”—some of the Cortland Air partners and some new investors formed the Western Reserve Flight Center Inc.
